I was invited to the company in order to take the position of a product designer in April 2016. My main task was to develop various tools offered on the Seller Side. Those are different features and instruments for the sellers intended to improve the quality and the speed of order processing, as well as to control previously completed tasks and communicate with the buyers. In about six months, I was offered to take the position of the senior product designer in the mobile team of Fiverr. By doing so, I was able to have direct access and control of the overall appearance, UI and UX of the mobile apps offered by the company. The end-user satisfaction was the key indicator of our success and it was represented by the constantly growing number of active buyers. By using the professional approach to our work, both mobile team and I were able to increase the number of Monthly Active Buyers, who used our mobile apps as the main tool to interact with the Fiverr Platform.

We created two independent versions of the homepage intended to provide a wide range of tools and services depending on the needs and the type of the customer. The buyer would have access to all active gigs, our recommendations, relevant stores, and many other things. At the same time, the homepage of the sellers would represent their dashboard with the actual information about their current status (the level of the seller, the closest evaluation date and so on), the information about active orders and things to do.

Inbox

The user is able to get all the information about the status of the message as in case of the first message received by the seller from a prospective customer, as well as in case of any technical problems when the user is notified that their message wasn't sent. Furthermore, the user is able to use special tags and stars to the messages in the inbox, as well as send them to the archive or mark messages unread in order to read and answer them later.

Conversation

This is one of the biggest sections of the service that includes a huge number of services intended to facilitate the process of communication between the seller and the buyer. The users are able to send voice messages (or even use video calls), share their gigs, create Custom Offers, use Quick Responses (in case if they have no time to provide a detailed answer), notify the buyer about the state of the order and use many other things. In addition to the participants of the conversation, the Fiverr Bot sends different notifications about the current status of the messages and helping the users in case of any issues and problems.

Explore

This section consists of several important blocks of information about the services, categories as well as a feed with the following sections: For You, Discover, Top Sellers, Editor’s Picks (daily recommendations from our trendsetters) and Articles (various articles and interviews).

Main menu   Buyer & Seller

The appearance of the menu depends on the status of the user. A guest of the website, a seller and a buyer will have access to different versions of the main menu. For each of the mentioned cases, the system offers the most appropriate combination of menu items in order to provide the user with the highest level of comfort, as well as to allow them to use all the features of the app. For example, the buyers are able to request Custom Offers from the wide range of sellers, create collections of favorite gigs and relocate the elements on the main page of the app. At the same time, the seller is able to control information about their revenues, crate new gigs and promote already existing ones.

Gig page

Probably, this is the most important screen in the app. By using the Gig page, the buyer is able to get all the information about the provided services. They can use the gallery, read the description and contact the seller in order to address important questions. The appearance of the Gig page depends on the chosen category of the Gig. It may look like a video gallery, like an audio player, or even like a detailed text description of the features offered within the service. Furthermore, one is able to get familiar with the previous examples of the seller's work. The Gig page may also look different depending on the current state of the seller: regular, Pro and Studio. In addition, one is able to save any Gig to their collection, share it in social networks or even send them in a form of a message through our unique widget.

They can use the gallery, read the description and contact the seller in order to address important questions. The appearance of the Gig page depends on the chosen category of the Gig. It may look like a video gallery, like an audio player, or even like a detailed text description of the features offered within the service. Furthermore, one is able to get familiar with the previous examples of the seller's work. The Gig page may also look different depending on the current state of the seller: regular, Pro and Studio. In addition, one is able to save any Gig to their collection, share it in social networks or even send them in a form of a message through our unique widget.

Search flow

The app allows the user to browse the search history (includes information about the search queries, usernames and checked gigs), the intuitive search engine with updated offers and even the tag search system (while creating their gig, the seller is able to add required tags right to their gig in order to make it visible for the prospective customers). In addition to the 'Related to' feature and filters (allowing to search for tags and users), we created so-called Smart Top Filters, which may adjust depending on the type of the search query made by the user.

My task was to create a visually clear and attractive income chart, improve the appearance of Withdraw screens and offer the users with the detailed information about every withdrawal (including the number of the transaction and the time of its execution).

Order review

It's worth noting that the order review screen is full of different information. In order to make it clear and easy to read, I had to get rid of excessive elements and add some "space" to the blocks of the screen. The information about the gig was moved to a separate tab with a specific color (each color represents the current state of the order, thus allowing the seller to understand if the order is active, completed or still incomplete). All secondary actions were moved to the bottom sheets (promo codes, payment methods, reviews and comments to the order).

After creating the order, the screen with the timeline becomes the key place for the user to interact with the system. I had a chance to work on the entire flow by adding special tags, which were intended to improve the UX of the app (for example, the header with the calendar that shows the process of order execution). In this section, I also added several different elements intended to make the entire working process much easier and comfortable. The users are able to add comments in the real-time (this feature allows adding comments to media and text files), control the history of revisions in the Delivery History and navigate between the different stages of the order completion.

In order to avoid constantly switching between the pages, I had to move many of them right to the dialog screens. The profile of the user was transformed from an independent section to a dialog screen. It was also divided into three different parts (two of them were created from scratch): the user's profile (Pro or regular), the studio profile and the buyer's profile. The profiles were added with the information about the users in order to understand the skills and the experience of the sellers.

I was working on the improvement of UI and UX on my own, constantly examining the current problems of the users and trying to find different ways to improve the quality of interaction with the users, as well as to increase the number of active users of the app. At that time, I had to follow a set of rules and principles created by the designers of Fiverr: Clean (the product has to be free of redundant elements), Clear (the product has to be intuitively clear for the user, thus providing the highest level of comfort) and Bold (the product has to be scalable, thus being able to attract and retain the user). Unlike many other designers in the company, I created the fourth rule, which was important only for mobile products of the company: we had to create the product in such a way to make the user opening it not only when they want to buy something, but also when they are bored and have nothing to do (the product has to stimulate the process of discovery and exploring not only to get a specific result but to enjoy the overall process too).

Pop-up illustrations

I created a series of illustrations to be used in the pop-ups of the app. These illustrations added some life to the blocks and made soulless messages visually clear and attractive. By using such interactive elements, one is able to transform the entire process into the game, thus motivating the user to pay more attention to the product, constantly discovering something new and getting a clear image together with the important information about the system.
